팥배나무 (학명 Sorbus alnifolia)

장미과의 낙엽 활엽 관목. 높이 15m. 잎은 어긋나기하고, 타원상 달걀꼴로, 끝은 넓은 점첨두이고, 원저로, 가장자리에 불규칙한 이중거치가 있다. 꽃은 흰색이며 편평꽃차례로 가지 끝에 6~10개의 꽃이 달린다. 열매는 이과로 타원형이며 반점이 뚜렷하고 지름이 1cm로 붉은색으로 익으며 9월 중순~10월 초에 성숙한다.
